Spotted Dusky Salamander Desmognathus conanti

Medium up to 14cm TL. Costal grooves number 14. Brown to reddish brown on the usually darker on the dorsum than the sides, considered stoutly built. Ventral is white with dark speckles. There’s a groove on the head from the eyes down to the upper lip. Tail is laterally compressed and comes to a sharp point.

*May have been introduced in Illinois, but now considered established.
