Mole Salamander
Ambystoma talpoideum
Medium sized, stocky salamander up to 11cm total length. Costal grooves range from 10-11. The head is blockier larger in relation to the body than others in the genus. Generally, dully colored gray to brown with light gray to white speckles across the body and tail. Ventral is light gray with light colored flecks. Juveniles can be distinguished from others by two yellow bars in parallel down the length of the ventral. The tail is vertically compressed.
