Jefferson Salamander Ambystoma jeffersonianum

Large up to 21cm in total length. Costal grooves are well defined varying from 12 to 14. Color varies from brown, dark brown to dark gray. Light blue specks can be seen on younger individuals but seem to fade with age. Ventral is pale gray. Tail is laterally compressed and can be as long as the body. Head is robust and larger than similar species. Limbs are slimmer and toes longer than similar species.
